About
Built to honor the filming of the Academy Award-winning movie "True Grit," our cafe opened on New Year’s Eve in 1985. We serve over 5,300 hand-breaded chicken fried steaks and more than 9,500 burgers annually, alongside juicy steaks, entree salads, and rich chili. Guests often gather around our bar for specialty drinks or relax on the balcony deck with a scenic view of the San Juan Mountains. Inside, you will find John Wayne memorabilia and local hunters' mounts that pay tribute to the area's history. We support community programs like Ridgway Athletics, Young Life, and the Ouray County Rodeo. Visitors and locals alike find a welcoming family-friendly environment where we welcome you to our family.
