The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued the following...WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.WHERE...Montrose, Ouray, Hinsdale, Mineral, Archuleta and southern Gunnison Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Lake City, Creede, Pagosa Springs and Sapinero.WHEN...900 AM Friday August 07 to 900 AM Saturday August 08IMPACTS...Moderate to heavy smoke from fires in southwestern Colorado will impact the advisory area through at least Saturday morning. The heaviest smoke is expected for locations in close vicinity to the Elk fire located in northern Hinsdale County, especially along Highway 149 north of Lake City during the morning hours.HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: Increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms in sensitive individuals, aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in people with cardiopulmonary disease and older adults. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
