RABBIT MOUNTIAN PRESCRIBED BURN UPDATE 9/29/2025

🔥 Prescribed Burn Alert – Rabbit Mountain, CO 🔥

The BLM Tres Rios Field Office is planning a prescribed burn of 552 acres at Rabbit Mountain, northwest of Bayfield, Colorado. If conditions allow, operations may begin as early as mid to late this week.

This burn is part of our ongoing efforts to:

✅ Reduce wildfire risk

✅ Improve wildlife habitat

✅ Promote healthy vegetation

Crews will be on-site during ignition and will monitor the area for several days. Smoke will be visible during daylight hours and may settle in low-lying areas overnight.

All operations depend on favorable weather and fuel conditions. Thank you for your awareness and support as we work to protect and restore our public lands.
