About this incident
The Aspen Acres Fire was first reported on June 29th at approximately 6:00am that originated 10 miles northwest of Rye, Colorado near the Aspen Acres Campground in the area of the San Isabel National Forest.
It experienced explosive growth due to record low fuel moisture levels and persistent red flag conditions in the week prior to and days following the ignition. The fire was wind driven by 40+ mph winds with gusts estimated to be up to 100 mph. It has impacted the community of Beulah, Colorado and the surrounding area in both Custer and Pueblo Counties.
