    Colorado Wildfire Evacuation Guide

    Before Evacuation

    1. Be alert and stay informed through local news, social media, and emergency alerts
    2. Pack an emergency kit with essentials (medications, documents, clothes, food, water)
    3. Prepare your home: close windows/doors, remove flammable materials, turn off gas
    4. Locate your pets and prepare carriers/leashes
    5. Park your vehicle facing outward and load your emergency supplies
    6. Wear protective clothing (long sleeves, pants, sturdy shoes)

    During Evacuation

    1. Leave as soon as evacuation is recommended
    2. Follow established evacuation routes
    3. Drive with headlights on and be alert for emergency vehicles
    4. Don't return home until authorities say it's safe

    Colorado Evacuation Routes

    • Western Slope: I-70 east toward Denver or west toward Grand Junction
    • Southwest Colorado: Highway 550 north to Montrose or south to Durango
    • San Juan Mountains: Highway 50 east toward Pueblo or west toward Grand Junction
    • Northern Colorado: I-25 north to Fort Collins or south to Denver

    After Evacuation

    1. Check with local authorities before returning home
    2. Be aware of hazards (hot spots, damaged power lines, debris)
    3. Document damage with photos for insurance
    4. Contact emergency services if you detect gas leaks or other hazards
