Welcome to the Durango Public Library!  A department of the City of Durango , the Durango Public Library is located along the banks of the Animas River, and is adjacent to the tracks of the popular Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.  A short walk from the Animas River Trail, the 42,800 square foot Durango Public Library offers over 108,000 items in print, downloadable, audio and video formats.

The current location opened in December of 2008, and is a LEED Gold Certified Building.  Founded in the late 1880s, the original Carnegie Library, built in 1907, was located in downtown Durango at 1188 E 2nd Ave. The former location is now home to offices of the City of Durango.
