Come hear Montrose County Sheriff Gene Lillard as he presents an update on his office and an overview of the issues requiring their attention.

In addition to the more visible presence of the Patrol, Investigations, and K-9 divisions, Montrose County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) provides Code Enforcement, Animal Control, School Resource Officers, and Victim Advocates to residents in the unincorporated areas of the county. The Sheriff is also the county jail’s official custodian. The Sheriff is responsible for inmate care and housing, prisoner transportation, executing writs, and supporting court operations.

Sheriff Lillard is a Colorado native and was raised in Telluride and Cedaredge. He has lived in Montrose County for the last 49 years, beginning in 1976 as a full-time patrol officer with the City of Montrose.

He was elected as the 21st Sheriff of Montrose County in 2018.

Each week, The Forum hosts a speaker who shares a topic of interest to the community. The Forum is free and open to anyone interested in Montrose. The Forum meets on Wednesdays (except during major holiday weeks) at Colorado Mesa University – Montrose, in Cascade Hall, south of the Montrose Library, at the corner of S 3rd Street and S Cascade Ave.
