Montrose County wants to give recognition to our amazing Child Support Services team for their outstanding work that focuses on helping the children in our community.
Proclamation 6-26 was read as follows:
WHEREAS, financial and emotional support from parents is an important component of child success; and
WHEREAS, children’s support from caregivers is also an important support to the child’s health and wellbeing; and
WHEREAS, the support of parents, extended families, caregivers and the community helps children grow into healthy, productive adults; and
WHEREAS, Montrose County is committed to promoting the health and well-being of all of its children by providing a variety of family-centered child support services to help ensure that parents pay child support on a regular and timely basis; and
WHEREAS, the payment of child support contributes to improved parent-child relationships, improved educational attainment for children, and reduced reliance on public assistance programs; and
WHEREAS, this month we salute those parents who support their children and honor the 699 child support professionals of the State of Colorado who collected more than $321.9 million for families across the state in 2025; and
WHEREAS, this month we salute those parents of who support their children and honor the 8 child support professionals of Montrose County who collected more than $3.95 million for the families of Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties; and
WHEREAS, Montrose County wishes to educate families about the availability of child support services and to continuously enhance the services that the state provides with innovative initiatives aimed at meeting the needs of all family members;
THEREFORE, the Montrose Board of County Commissioners, does hereby proclaim the month of August, 2026 as CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH in Montrose County.
