On August 13, 2026, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a report of a sex assault alleged to have occurred in the northeast quadrant of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Multiple individuals reported inappropriate behavior during examinations. Through investigation, detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Joseph Heinecke.
An arrest warrant was issued, and on October 22, 2026, officers arrested Heinecke without incident. Heinecke was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked in on four counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact/Medical Treatment.
