City of Aspen seeks proposals for Aspen Armory Hall operator
Aspen, CO– The city of Aspen has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking an experienced operator to lease and manage Aspen Armory Hall, a future community food hall and gathering place planned for downtown Aspen.
Originally constructed in 1892, Armory Hall is a designated historic landmark in Aspen's downtown historic district. The adaptive reuse of Armory Hall was shaped by years of public engagement, community feedback and Aspen City Council direction, ultimately identifying a strong desire for more casual, affordable dining options and inclusive spaces for residents and visitors to gather year-round.
The completed space will feature multiple food concepts and beverage service, flexible community gathering spaces, and indoor and outdoor seating. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026, with the facility expected to open in late 2028.
The city is seeking proposals from hospitality professionals and organizations with experience operating food halls, hospitality venues or similar community-oriented gathering spaces, particularly those with knowledge in seasonal resort communities.
The selected operating partner will manage day-to-day operations of Armory Hall, and will oversee the entire facility, excluding the visitor center that will be managed by the Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA).
Revenue for the operator will be generated from beverage services, five commercial kitchens/store fronts, a retail/grab-and-go space, and private events. The city expects the selected operator to manage beverage service directly while subleasing the kitchen and retail spaces to a diverse mix of vendors that serve the community and visitors year-round.
