Coach Miller Drive, Soccer Field Road, Bennett Ave., Hwy 6 & 24 Shared Use Path, Downtown Signage Installations, Downtown Parking Garage Closure, 19th Street, 7th Street, Glenwood Canyon, Private Developments, Emergency Alerts

Coach Miller Drive Project

  • The west intersection of 14th St and Grand Avenue next to Jimmy John's has reopened!

  • Beginning Monday, July 20, the intersection of 14th and Pitkin will be closed.

  • Coach Miller Drive will remain closed from Park Drive to 14th Street for the duration of construction.

  • Rio Grande/River Trail is open, but pedestrians and bicyclists are asked stay off of the road and out of construction areas.

  • Construction is scheduled to be completed during school summer break, reopening before school starts.

9th Street Road Closure

  • July 9-24: 9th Street between Bennett Ave. and Garfield Ave. will be closed.

  • No parking or through traffic during closure.

  • This closure is for installation of a valley pan and for road resurfacing.

  • Sidewalk access will also be closed along 9th St. - residents should use alternate access and follow signage or worker instructions. For alternate street parking, please consider using the 9th & Cooper parking garage or the 7th Street lot.

Soccer Field Road

  • Crews have completed major work! The City completed a sidewalk connection, drainage, and road improvements.

Hwy 6 & 24 Shared Use Path from Donegan to Linden

  • Crews will install thermoplastic striping (crosswalks, stop bars) July 22-24.

  • Contractors have completed installation of the new water line and installed and activated four new fire hydrants!! Coming up, crews will pour concrete at the bus stops, finish electrical conduit installation then mill and pave the roadway. Project is still on schedule for completion in July.

  • Throughout the project:

  • Anticipate lane closures and please follow signage. Expect traffic control at the intersections of Traver Trail and Devereaux Road. Vehicles are encouraged to use alternate routes, especially during peak hours.

  • Pedestrians should be advised that the path is still fully closed between Donegan Rd. and Linden St. and not to be used for walking or biking. Please use alternate routes or utilize public transportation through the work zone.

  • The westbound Ride Glenwood Traver Trail stop is temporarily relocated to the rapid flash beacon crossing at W. 1st St in front of Antlers Hotel. The eastbound stop will remain in the same location.

Downtown Signage Installations

  • Over the coming weeks, the city will be adding clarifying signage at some intersections currently without signs (uncontrolled intersections).

  • Drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists should be mindful of new signs which will mostly include Yield signs and some Stop signs in the historic downtown area.

  • For this transition, city crews will install temporary flags to bring attention to the new signs.

These sign additions were recommended as part of the recent Community Safety Action Plan.

Downtown Parking Garage Closure

  • August 3-October 3: The 9th and Cooper garage will be closed on both levels

  • For structural lintel and crack repair, resurfacing the full upper deck, and repairing drainage issues

  • Alternate parking is available at the 7th Street lot which has a new and improved sidewalk connection to downtown

  • Downtown employees are strongly encouraged to utilize alternate transportation such as the free Ride Glenwood bus, walking, biking or Ride Glenwood On-Demand.

19th Street Project

  • Construction has begun and will continue through August.

  • 19th Street is fully closed to traffic between Grand Ave. and Blake Ave. for the duration of construction. Local businesses are open with alternate access. Please follow signage.

  • For installation of new sewer lines, new stormwater infrastructure to improve drainage, replacement of curb and gutter on the south side of the road, and laying a fresh asphalt surface

  • Alternate routes are primarily on Hyland Park Drive to the north and 20th Street to the south. The parking lots that are between 19th and 20th Streets will remain open but accessible in and out from 20th Street only.

7th Street Closures

7th Street Closures between Colorado Ave. and Cooper Ave. for special events

  • Every Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. for the Market on 7th

GLENWOOD CANYON

I-70 Glenwood Canyon Bridge Joint Improvements [CDOT]

  • Work will take place with lane closures along the 17-mile stretch in Glenwood Canyon from Glenwood Springs to Dotsero (Mile Points 116 to 133).

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday

Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path

  • The entire path from Glenwood Springs to Dotsero is open!

Glenwood Canyon Rest Area Improvements

  • CDOT is making updates to three rest areas along I-70 in Glenwood Canyon – the Bair Ranch, Grizzly Creek and No Name Rest Areas.

  • Reconstruction of the three rest areas (one per year) is anticipated to occur 2027-2029. Only one rest area will be closed at a time for renovation.

PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT

Silver Sage Development

  • Private development under construction. 20 duplexes (40 units) south of the Four Mile and Airport roads intersection. The duplexes will all have garages and are anticipated (but not required) to be for-sale.

  • Approved by City Council in 2014. Some units are anticipated to be complete this year.

Home 2 Suites by Hilton at Glenwood Meadows

  • Private development under construction. 150-key, four-story extended-stay hotel on Lot 10C and a landscaped parking area and public garden on Lot 10D in the Glenwood Meadows.

  • Approved by City Council in 2024. Construction is anticipated to occur throughout 2026 and the first half of 2027.
