Durango, CO: **City staff will present City Council with options for managing a potential Neighborhood Parking Permit program in the city’s Boulevard Neighborhood at the Council’s upcoming meeting.
Staff is seeking Council direction on which permit management strategies should be further developed but is not requesting approval of a final program at this stage.
Staff will present four management strategies, including maintaining the current unrestricted parking, adding time limits for non‑residents with permits for residents, allowing both residents and non‑residents to purchase permits, or establishing a full resident‑only permit zone.
Following Council direction, staff will refine boundaries, permit eligibility, visitor provisions, enforcement practices, pricing, and operational impacts.
At their regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 5:30 p.m., held at council chambers, 949 East Second Ave., councilors will also:
Vote on the 2027 city council meeting schedule.
Vote on a request for a public hearing at the Nov. 3 regular council meeting to receive public comment on the 2027 City Manager’s Proposed Budget.
Vote to introduce an ordinance that would amend the rules of procedure during city council meetings to allow for additional public comment during resolutions and first considerations of ordinances.
Vote on a resolution to direct the city manager to initiate an annual cost of living adjustment for the Old Hire Firefighter and Police Pension plans.
Vote on a resolution that would direct the city manager to perform a feasibility analysis on organic waste management ordinance and policy options.
Vote on a resolution that would direct the city manager to add inclusion of the area within the City of Durango into the Durango Fire Protection District on the April 2027 Election. The Durango Fire Protection District has provided fire protection services within the City of Durango under an intergovernmental agreement since 2014. As the IGA is set to expire in December 2028, this resolution proposes including the area within the city in the district if approved by voters in the April 2027 election.
