**Steamboat Springs, Colorado-September 1, 2026-**Construction crews will conduct irrigation and landscaping work at the Emerald Park Playground Improvements Project over the upcoming Labor Day weekend and the following weekend as work continues toward project completion.
Duckels Construction, the project’s general contractor, and its landscaping and irrigation subcontractor, Ski Town Landscaping, will work at the site September 5-7 and September 12-13. The additional weekend work hours are needed to complete the project’s irrigation scope and keep construction on schedule.
The work will be limited to the playground project area. The Emerald Park parking lot, Yampa River Botanic Park and soccer fields will remain open and accessible throughout the additional work.
City staff have reviewed field schedules for the upcoming weekends and do not anticipate conflicts or significant impacts to scheduled activities. Soccer practices are scheduled on the fields from 9 am to 7 pm. Saturday and Sunday, and the Yampa River Botanic Park will host Yoga on the Green Saturday mornings from 9-10 am. No sports tournaments are occurring during the weekend periods.
Residents and park users may see construction crews and equipment in the playground project area during the weekend work. The city appreciates the community’s patience as crews complete the remaining improvements and work toward completion of the project later this month.
The Emerald Playground project will be the largest playground replacement to date and includes site improvements, new wayfinding and amenities designed to create a modern, inclusive and dynamic play experience for all ages and abilities. The new playground will feature two age-appropriate play structures, a 60-foot zipline, swings, a spinner, digi-riders, seating areas, sidewalks, a rubberized play surface and native landscaping. New wayfinding will also improve navigation throughout Emerald Park, making it easier to find amenities, sports fields, the Botanic Park and the core trail.
