Girls Who BMX: Learn the Basics, Build Confidence and Ride

Whether your daughter is brand new to BMX or already riding at Cundiff Park, our Girls-only BMX Clinic is an opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and spend time on the track with other girls.

Taking place Saturday, October 3 from 1–3 p.m. at Cundiff Park BMX, the clinic is designed for girls ages 6 and older who can confidently ride a pedal bike. Riders of all experience levels are welcome, from those curious about trying BMX for the first time to those already attending Friday races and looking to progress their skills.

The clinic will be led by coach Paige Zachary and supported by BMX volunteers, creating a positive environment where riders can learn, practice and challenge themselves at their own level.

BMX 101: Learn the Ins and Outs

Whether your rider is getting on a BMX bike for the first time or already knows their way around the track, the clinic will cover the fundamentals while giving experienced riders an opportunity to refine and build on their skills.

Participants will work on:

  • BMX basics: Understanding the sport, bike setup and proper body position

  • Bike handling: Improving balance, steering and overall bike control

  • Pumping: Learning how to use the track to carry speed

  • Cornering: Building confidence and control through turns

  • Starting gate skills: Learning how to set up and launch from the gate

  • Race flow: Understanding how a BMX moto runs from start to finish

New riders can learn the basics and get comfortable on the track, while experienced riders can use the clinic to practice technique, improve their skills and work toward becoming stronger BMX racers.

No BMX Bike? No Problem.

Riders are welcome to bring their own bike and ride whatever bike they are comfortable on. Bikes and helmets are also available to borrow free of charge if needed.

If bringing a personal bike, make sure it is prepped and ready to ride. Participants should also bring extra water, snacks and any additional protective equipment they would like to use.

What to Wear

For the clinic, riders should wear:

  • Long sleeves

  • Pants

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • A helmet

A helmet can be brought from home or borrowed at the track.

Keep Riding After the Clinic

The Girls Who BMX experience doesn't have to end when the clinic is over.

All clinic participants receive a free race entry for the BMX race on Sunday, October 4. Riders can ask the BMX team how to register for the race and put their new skills to use on the track.

For a first-time rider, it can be an exciting opportunity to take what they learned during the clinic and experience an actual BMX race. For riders who already have some experience, it is another chance to practice their skills and get behind the gate.
