On June 27, 2026, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a report of a possible sex assault in the southwest quadrant of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Through investigation, officers determined an adult female had been sexually assaulted by a male known to her. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was also found to be in possession of child sexual abusive material. Grand Junction Police detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Richard Sanchez-Parra, and a warrant was granted for his arrest.
On July 22, 2026, officers arrested Sanchez-Parra and transported him to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was booked on the following charges:
Sex Assault
Assault in the Second Degree
Sexual Exploitation of a Child
