Montrose County Sheriff’s Office Names Ty Cox as Undersheriff
MONTROSE, Colo. – Montrose County Sheriff Gene Lillard has appointed Ty Cox as the new Undersheriff of Montrose County following the retirement of former Undersheriff George Jackson.
Cox, a Montrose native and Montrose High School graduate, began his law enforcement career in 2006 with the Ouray County Sheriff’s Office. He joined the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office in 2009 and has served as a patrol deputy, investigator, sergeant, lieutenant and most recently Patrol Commander.
“I am excited and looking forward to Undersheriff Ty Cox assisting me in leading the Montrose County Sheriff's Office in the immediate future and beyond,” said Sheriff Gene Lillard. “I am also grateful for the loyalty and dedication that former Undersheriff George Jackson gave to the Montrose County Sheriff's Office and citizens of Montrose County during his 40 years of service. I wish the best for him in his retirement.”
Jackson retired after more than 40 years in law enforcement serving the citizens of Montrose County. He looks forward to retirement and spending more time with his family.
As Undersheriff, Cox will work alongside Sheriff Lillard in overseeing Sheriff’s Office operations and supporting deputies and staff throughout Montrose County.
