Durango, CO: **Weekly highlights for the week of July 20: College Drive and 8th Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 19, through Thursday, July 23, while crews install crosswalks and turn arrows, and the Roosa Connectivity project will begin work between 9th Street and El Paso Street.
The City of Durango's Orange Cone Report is designed to inform motorists about construction projects and events that may cause traffic delays. Each week, an interactive map will be updated on the city's social media channels and website.

Construction projects and events that will impact traffic the week of July 20: Roose Safety and Connectivity project **
Project Summary:
The project includes 4,322 feet of new sidewalk on the east side of Roosa Avenue and 9th Street to the Riverbridge Apartments; intersection improvements at Avenida Del Sol and El Paso Street; protected bike lanes; ADA ramp upgrades; transit stop improvements; asphalt milling and overlay; and updated pavement markings to reconfigure traffic flow.
Construction begins July 23.
Daytime work hours range from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on Roosa Avenue during working hours.
Avenida Del Sol will be completely closed during infrastructure and paving work.
**Animas View Drive (private project)

Construction will occur Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24.
Deeply Digital will be installing fiber and its conduit along the northeast side of the 100 and 200 blocks of Animas View Drive.
Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Traffic will be down to one lane with flaggers alternating traffic.
College Drive and 8th Avenue Safety Project:
College Drive and 8th Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 19 through Thursday, July 23, while crews install crosswalks and turn arrows.
Citywide sidewalk improvements
Project Summary:
As part of the Citywide On-Call Concrete Construction Program, crews are repairing and reconstructing sidewalks and installing ADA-compliant curb ramps at various locations throughout the city. Construction is expected to continue for approximately 8-9 weeks.
Work will occur on the 1200 block of 2nd Avenue.
Temporary parking impacts are expected in active work areas.
Access to businesses and residences will remain open during construction.
Florida Road utilities & Metz Lane left turn lane improvements (private project)
Project Summary:
Water and sewer connections will be installed along Florida Road. Florida Road will be milled, widened, repaved, and restriped to create an eastbound left turn lane from Florida Lane to Metz Lane.
Construction is scheduled to continue through August 7.
Florida Road/County Road 240 between 1650 County Road 240 and 1780 County Road 240 will be constricted to one lane of travel during the weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Animas River Trail Phase 1 (see below for map)
Construction has begun on the Animas River Trail, starting at 29th Street to the Rio Vista Spur.
Demon Bridge will remain open during this portion of the construction.
Trail users should follow the detour signs.
This phase is expected to continue for 2-3 months.
Wilson Gulch Drive (see below for map)
Project Summary:
New utility infrastructure will be extended to the current Spur Line Trailhead, and the existing gravel road will be replaced with a new two-lane paved roadway featuring a raised median. Once complete, the new pavement will extend past the trailhead and connect to Prospector Avenue (East). This work precedes the construction of the upcoming Three Springs Elementary School for the Durango School District. Construction is anticipated to last through November.
Starting at the roundabout at Confluence Avenue, Wilson Gulch Drive is closed for major road and utility upgrades.
Public trail access will remain available through the project. Parking will be permitted along the south side of Prospector Avenue.
US Highway 160 at Elmore's Corner (Colorado Department of Transportation CDOT project)
Project Summary:
Work will include resurfacing the highway, striping, new delineators, guardrail, and road sign replacement. The Durango High Bridge will undergo deck repairs and new resurfacing. New ramps, compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, will be installed on US Highway 160 at Dominguez Drive, River Road, Three Springs Boulevard, and Colorado Highway 172/County Road 234 (Elmore’s Corner).
Paving and milling operations will continue between Elmore's Corner and Three Springs.
Paving and milling in this area is expected to take three weeks.
Most work will occur at night, but motorists may experience daytime delays and congestion due to lane closures and traffic shifts that will remain in place 24/7.
Motorists can expect daytime delays in both directions to continue throughout the summer as milling and paving operations progress towards Walmart.
KSUT Party in the Park, Saturday, July 25
Closure will occur on the 1200 block of Main Avenue from 2 p.m. to 11:50 p.m.
