**Mesa County, CO - **October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office stand united in raising awareness about this issue, supporting survivors, and protecting and serving our community.
Recognize the warning signs. Domestic violence is about power and control, and not always physical violence. Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, financial, psychological, verbal, sexual, digital abuse, as well as isolation from family and friends.
**YOU ARE NOT ALONE. **If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help and support are available.
If you see or suspect abuse, speak up and seek help.
Call 911 in an emergency.
Contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit thehotline.org.
For additional support, contact the GJPD or MCSO Victim Services Units by calling non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707
Domestic violence affects individuals, families, and our entire community. By recognizing the warning signs, supporting survivors, and reporting suspected abuse, we can help connect those experiencing domestic violence with the help and resources they need. Together, we can make a difference.
