Union Pacific railroad crossing work will temporarily close four crossings in Delta, with closures scheduled to begin between October 28 and November 2, 2026. Residents and travelers should allow extra travel time and follow posted detours.
U.S. 50 near Maverik: Closes Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 5 a.m. Reopening is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at 4 p.m.
Palmer Street: Closes Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5 a.m. until work is complete.
Kellogg Street by Confluence Lake: Closes Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 5 a.m. until work is complete.
G50 Road near Cranes Landing: Closes Monday, November 2, 2026, at 5 a.m. until work is complete.
For the October 28–29 U.S. 50 closure, northbound and southbound traffic will use the full Confluence Drive bypass. Highway 92 traffic traveling toward Grand Junction will use the connection via West 1st Street and North Palmer Street to Confluence Drive, as shown on the map. Follow the U.S. 50 detour map and posted signs.
If you normally use G50 Road to travel to or from Grand Junction, stay on U.S. 50 through Delta during the closure.
The U.S. 50 detour map applies only to the October 28–29 closure. The G50 Road map applies to the closure beginning November 2. These maps do not show the Palmer or Kellogg Street closures.
Also on Friday, October 30, 2026, Main Street between 2nd and 7th streets will be closed from 1 to 6:30 p.m. for Downtown Trick or Treat. This is a separate City of Delta closure, not part of the railroad work. That section of Main Street will not be available as a detour during the event closure.
