Durango, CO: **Beginning this fall, travelers passing through the Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) will have a new, familiar option to eat and drink past the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.

The airport has announced that the Steamworks Brewing Co. “Hub” restaurant will open in partnership with SkyDine, DRO’s master concessionaire.

The Steamworks Hub was created with SkyDine, a family-owned company based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

“Working with SkyDine has been great, and we are stoked with their commitment to using local brands at the airport,” said Kris Oyler, co-founder and CEO of Peak Brewing Co., which owns Steamworks.

Dustin Sejnoha, owner and managing partner of SkyDine, said the Hub supports the airport’s broader goal of representing Durango.

“SkyDine’s strong local partnerships with well-known food and beverage brands from our community brings a homegrown quality that affirms DRO’s commitment to generating an improved sense of place at the airport,” said Aviation Director Tony Vicari. “Showcasing what’s in our own region enables travelers to experience the local flavors of Southwest Colorado as they pass through our terminal. The Steamworks Hub will be a true centerpiece to the concessions experience at DRO.”

While Steamworks has a contract with the concessionaire, the Hub’s personnel will be employed directly by SkyDine. Oyler added that Steamworks worked closely with SkyDine to align products with what customers expect from the Downtown Durango location.

Because of airport space limitations, the Steamworks Hub menu will be smaller than the downtown restaurant. However, the Hub will still feature many fan favorites. Executive Chef and Chief Operating Officer Sean Clark and Steamworks staff trained SkyDine employees to prepare and present dishes similar to those served in town.

The menu will include items such as the Southwest Salad, Southwestern Burger, Fish & Chips, Mac N’ Cheese, and Nachos, among other options. HomeSlice pizza will also be available by the slice as a grab-and-go option, with pizzas prepared at HomeSlice, transported to the airport, and cooked on-site by Sky Dine, Clark said. Steamworks beer will also be available, including popular selections such as the Colorado Kolsch, Steam Engine Lager, and Sultan of Stoke IPA.

“We’re excited to have our brand out there,” Oyler said, “and hopefully give people more options for food and beverage when they’re traveling through the airport.”

Vicari added that he is pleased to partner with a concessionaire focused on local product placement. “Businesses represented in the airport can provide an extension of the taste and experience of Durango for travelers,” he said.
