About

The 8 Bells trail is a short, moderate hike located in Overend Mountain Park just outside Durango, Colorado. The trail spans approximately 0.3 to 0.4 miles with an elevation gain of roughly 160 feet, starting near 6,725 feet and reaching a summit around 6,887 feet. The route consists of dirt surface with tight switchbacks that climb efficiently up the hill. Hikers and mountain bikers share the trail, which operates as a two-way path. The narrow turning radius requires caution for riders descending at speed while looking out for climbers. At the top, the trail offers views of downtown Durango through the trees. The trail connects to Perin's Gulch, Brown’s Ridge, Hogsback, and Ella Vita trails. It is open year-round and allows leashed dogs. Parking is available near the trailhead.
