About

The Airline Trail is a 2.1-mile moderate hiking and mountain biking route located in Aspen, Colorado, on the Western Slope. Situated at an elevation of approximately 9,625 feet, the trail provides access to Sky Mountain Park and connects with the Owl Creek Trail and Buttermilk Ski Area parking lot. It links to the Cozyline Trail at its upper end, forming a loop with the Incline and Cozyline trails. The trail was constructed to replace Radar Road, which is now restricted to administrative use. Hikers can enjoy views of the Roaring Fork Valley and the Aspen Snowmass Airport runway directly below. The route features banked turns, dips, and rollers designed for mountain bikes, with a gentle climb and few steep sections. It is open year-round and typically takes about one hour to complete. Parking is available at the trailhead, with additional access points near Buttermilk Ski Area. While dogs and horses are generally not allowed on this specific trail segment, the path is suitable for running and hiking. The terrain is dirt, and winter conditions may require snowshoes or traction devices.
