Elevation ranges from a high of 7,208 feet to a low point near the creek crossing. The route is open for riding from April through October, aligning with the local dry season when trail conditions are most stable. Riders should expect technical features including tight switchbacks and rocky sections that require advanced skills. The trail crosses Falls Creek via a bridge; while one option is described as rickety, the recommended path uses a better-built bridge on the right fork. After crossing, the trail continues northeast through meadows and an old burn area with tall pines before reaching a sign marking the boundary of private property. The route is pet-friendly, allowing dogs to accompany riders.
