Angel Creek Campground

Angel Creek Campground is a primitive, first-come, first-served site located in the Uncompahgre National Forest near Ouray, Colorado. Situated approximately two to three miles from town along County Road 361 and Forest Service Road 853.81, the campground sits at an elevation of 8,527 feet. Access requires high-clearance vehicles due to a rocky and uneven entrance road; the area is not designed for trailer campers. The site contains 15 designated campsites, most featuring tent pads, fire rings or grills, and bear boxes. Two vault toilets are available on-site. Water is provided by Angel Creek, which flows through the clearing and offers direct access for many sites. The campground operates seasonally from May through September, with winter access possible depending on snow conditions. Typical stay duration is about two hours for setup. The difficulty is moderate, primarily due to the vehicle access requirements and variable trail conditions. Pets are permitted. Payment of $10 per night is accepted via cash or check at a self-pay station.
