The Animas Mountain Connector is a short, easy hiking trail located in Durango, Colorado. It serves as an access route to the larger Animas Mountain Trail system. The trail spans 0.10 miles and sits at an elevation of approximately 6,534 to 6,902 feet. The surface is ground, and the route features a moderate climb with uneven terrain. Parking is available directly at the trailhead. The trail is open year-round, from January through December. While the main Animas Mountain Loop is rated moderate with 5.4 miles and 1,700 feet of gain, the Connector itself is classified as easy. It provides views of the Hermosa and Animas Valleys, Mesa Verde to the west, and the Weminuche Wilderness to the east. The trail is well-marked with signs along the way. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. No permit is required for parking.
