Apocalypse is a difficult sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, Western Colorado. The route sits on the Project Wall at an elevation of 8,502 feet. It is a 90-foot climb featuring limestone from the Leadville Formation. The route begins on a pile of solidified rubble below an attractive blue streak at the far right side of the Project Wall Cave. The climb consists of two main sections: a power endurance boulder problem with finicky kneebars in the first six bolts, followed by approximately 5.12 endurance climbing and a tricky boulder problem near the chains. Some climbers extend the route by 20 feet, which may justify a 5.13c rating due to intricate sequences above the original finish. The route uses permadraws for protection. Parking is available on site, and pets are allowed. The area is accessible year-round, though weather conditions can vary with potential snow and ice in winter months. Rifle Mountain Park is known for high concentrations of 5.12 to 5.14 sport routes, with the best climbing conditions typically occurring in spring and fall shoulder seasons.
