About

The Aspen Alley to Illinois Creek connector is a short, 0.2-mile link in Breckenridge that joins Aspen Alley to the Illinois Creek trail system. It serves as a practical bypass for Boreas Pass Road traffic, connecting riders to the Blue River Trail and the Illinois Creek ice rink parking lot. The trail sits at approximately 9,864 feet and is rated easy to moderate in difficulty. It features a technical middle section with some rocky terrain, though it remains accessible for older children and intermediate riders. A fork near the midpoint allows riders to choose between continuing on Illinois Creek (eastern fork) or taking the Southside Trail (western fork), both of which return to the ice rink area. The trail is open for public use and permits e-bikes. While one recent check-in noted a private gate potentially causing closure, the trail is generally considered open and suitable for mountain biking from April through October. Parking is available at the trailhead near the ice rink, and pets are allowed on leashes.
