About
Aspen Trail (Trail 21) is a 2.5-mile loop located in Mueller Park, beginning at the second parking lot just past Dragonfly Pond. The route descends to the southeastern edge of the park before climbing back to the start. The trail is classified as difficult, featuring grades of approximately 20% along sections near the park's border. The elevation gain and loss are significant enough that the elevation profile may not fully capture the multiple steep descents and ascents. Riders head south from the parking lot, where the trail intersects with School Pond Trail (Trail 2), Ranger Ridge Trail (Trail 3), and Stoner Mill Trail (Trail 23). Keeping left leads onto Aspen Trail. At mile 2.2, the path begins a steady climb, turns west for about a mile, and then descends back to the trailhead. The trail is suitable for experienced riders and is typically open from April through October. Parking is available at the designated lot. Pets are permitted. The trail is located in Aspen, Colorado, on the Western Slope.
