About

Boogie Down is a 90-foot, two-pitch trad route located in the Devil's Kitchen landform within Colorado National Monument, near Grand Junction. The climb is rated moderate (5.9 A0) and features a mix of face climbing, corner climbing, and aid on sandstone. The first pitch involves climbing sandy fingers and face for 15 feet, followed by tight hand jams in a left-facing corner. Protection includes stoppers, cams, and a sketchy quarter-inch bolt. The second pitch moves right off the belay across soft rock to a bolt, then requires an exposed class 4 downclimb of about 6 feet to a small ledge. Climbers cross a chasm to a detached tower and ascend a six-bolt ladder using aid techniques, finishing on drilled angles. The route offers views of the surrounding red-rock landscape. Parking is available, and the area is pet-friendly. The typical duration is about 5 hours. Elevation is listed as 4,689 feet in the database, though other sources cite 7,458 feet. Climbers should bring a 60-meter rope for the rappel descent and be prepared for loose rock and varying weather conditions.
