About
Canyon Cruiser is a trad climbing route located in Glenwood Canyon near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The climb ascends 400 feet of clean, sharp quartzite rock, characterized by bright red stone, incut holds, and horizontal edges. The route consists of four distinct pitches and is rated moderate difficulty. The approach begins at a modest cairn on the right side of a deep red wall. The first pitch angles up and left toward a sheltered ledge under a prominent right-facing corner. The second pitch involves climbing straight up to a horizontal feature, traversing right to a crack system, and navigating tiered ledges to a roomy belay station. The third pitch moves right to a west-facing wall, passing a small overlap to utilize sculpted quartzite holds before reaching a large ledge. The final pitch trends right to avoid a wide crack, climbing over stacked blocks beneath an undercut roof. Climbers may choose to surmount the roof for the full experience or skirt it on the left for a less intense finish. The route ends at a polished plaque with solid knife blade anchors. Descent involves traversing right for approximately 750 feet to a gully, followed by rappelling off a tree with a sling. The area offers parking and is pet friendly. The climb typically takes about 7 hours and is accessible year-round.
