The Colorado Trail segment from Silverton to Durango is a 75.4-mile difficult mountain biking route designated as an IMBA Epic. The ride begins at Molas Pass, located west of the Weminuche Wilderness, and follows 73 miles of uninterrupted bike-legal singletrack to downtown Durango. The trail traverses the San Juan mountain range with an average elevation above 10,000 feet and peaks over 12,300 feet at Molas, Blackhawk, Efendi, and Kennebec passes. The total elevation gain results in a typical duration of approximately 25 hours for through riders. Key access points include Bolam Pass, where a hut is available for lodging. The route features technical climbs, rocky descents, and ridgeline riding above timberline. Seasonal access runs from April through October, contingent on snow conditions. Parking is available at trailheads, and the route permits pets.
