The Coopers Ranch River Trail is a short, easy connector trail located within the Curecanti National Recreation Area, just west of Gunnison, Colorado. The route follows the Gunnison River through a mature cottonwood forest, offering flat, smooth terrain suitable for hikers of all skill levels. The area is noted for wildlife viewing, including muskrats, beavers, and striped skunks, as well as diverse bird species such as Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers and Black-headed Grosbeaks. Access is open year-round with free gravel parking available at the trailhead. The trail is approximately 0.2 miles long with an elevation range between 7,533 and 7,563 feet. Hikers should be aware of high water during the spring runoff season. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
