About

Cowboy Trail is a 2.8-mile loop in the Grandview Ridge Trail System near Durango, Colorado. The trail is classified as moderate and serves as a connection between the Sidewinder and Sale Barn trails. It is a multi-use path open to hiking, biking, and trail running. The surface is ground, and the trail features a steady climb with approximately 630 feet of elevation gain. Access is via Carbon Junction, with parking available at the trailhead. The trail system is subject to seasonal closures from December 1 to April 15 to protect wintering deer and elk, though specific closure dates can vary slightly by year.
