Dairygold is a rock climbing destination located on Grand Mesa in Western Colorado, situated at an elevation of 8,684 feet. The site features difficult climbing routes that require a high level of skill and physical fitness, making it suitable for experienced climbers. A typical visit lasts about 6 hours. The area is accessible year-round, with operations running from January through December. Practical amenities include available parking and a pet-friendly policy, allowing climbers to bring their dogs. Grand Mesa is a prominent east-west landform capped by hard volcanic basalt, with the present-day remnant covering approximately 53 square miles. The climbing terrain consists of steep, featured walls created by large volcanic flow events that deposited basalt layers up to 70 feet thick. Access is primarily from Grand Junction, reachable by driving east on I-70 to Exit 49 and heading south on CO Highway 65, or by taking US Highway 50 west past Whitewater and heading east on Kannah Creek Road.
