About

Diagonal Dihedral is a moderate trad climbing route located just outside Durango, Colorado. The climb features a clean, right-leaning diagonal crack that cuts through solid rock. It is approximately 35 feet long and rated at 5.9. The route offers a straightforward ascent that emphasizes technique and flow over brute force. A crux located about three-quarters of the way up requires precise finger jams and confident footwork. There are no fixed anchors or bolts, so climbers must place their own protection using small to medium cams. The rock is slightly textured and forgiving, allowing for a focus on movement. Access involves a short 10 to 15-minute hike from trailhead parking through mixed terrain with low-growth trees. Footing is mostly firm, though there are patches of loose rock near the base and on the walk-off trail. The route is shaded by a modest stand of trees, making it suitable for warmer days. Parking is available near the start of the approach. The site allows pets.
