About
Dont' Trust Whitey is a 45-foot sport climb located in Skull Cave at Rifle Mountain Park, near Rifle, Colorado. The route is graded 5.13d and was first ascended by Steve Hong. The climb is characterized by a difficult, boulder-problem-style start that transitions into an easier rail traverse to the anchors. The route is noted for being harder and steeper than it appears, situated in an area that collects water and moss, resulting in atrociously rusty bolts. Climbers should bring quickdraws and kneepads. Access is managed through Rifle Mountain Park, where visitors must purchase a daily or season entry pass and park in designated areas. The park is open year-round, though climbing is most common from May through September.
