About
East Lower Lower Plunge is a short, technical mountain biking trail in Aspen, Colorado, located within the Smuggler Mountain/Hunter Creek network on White River National Forest. Built in 2021 as a reroute, it connects directly from the original Lower Plunge Trail to the uppermost bridge over Hunter Creek. The trail serves as an alternate descent option for the full Upper and Lower Plunge (Sunnyside) trails or links into Hunter Valley North and South for loop riding. Rated difficult, the 0.3-mile segment sits at an elevation of approximately 8,863 feet. Riders should expect steep sections and technical features. The trail is accessible from April through October, though conditions depend on snowmelt. Parking is available near the trailhead, and dogs are permitted off-leash. E-bikes are not allowed.
