Enchanted Mesa Trail

The Enchanted Mesa Trail is a moderate, out-and-back hiking route located in Ridgway State Park near Ridgway, Colorado. The trail spans approximately 2.5 to 3 miles and connects the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk area with the Dutch Charlie area. It serves as the only non-motorized link between these two sections of the park. The route begins at an elevation near 6,700 feet and ascends via switchbacks to a flat, rolling dirt path on the western side of Enchanted Mesa at roughly 7,035 feet. The total elevation gain is approximately 323 to 413 feet, depending on the specific start point used. Hikers typically complete the loop in 1 to 2 hours. The trailhead offers parking and allows leashed dogs, bicycles, and camping. The upper section is a flat top pasture that supports mule deer and elk populations. Views of the Ridgway Reservoir, the Sneffels Range, and the Cimarron Range are prominent features. Spring brings blooms of yucca and cactus along the path. Trailheads are accessible from both the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk entrance and Mear’s Bay Trail, allowing for flexible entry points.
