The Historic Fairy Caves are a living limestone cave system located atop Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs, accessible via the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park gondola. This 40-minute guided walking tour covers a quarter-mile of narrow, winding passages through a cave that remains a constant 52 degrees year-round. The route features packed gravel floors, one gradual slope, and 18 steps, with ceiling heights dipping to 5.5 feet in one section. Highlights include crystalline reflection pools, the Register Room with mineral-saturated walls, and Exclamation Point, a viewing balcony offering views of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers. The tour is suitable for most fitness levels but is not recommended for those with heart or respiratory problems, pregnant women, or individuals prone to claustrophobia. Food and liquids are prohibited inside. The cave is pet-free and stroller-free, though lockers are available. Access requires a ticket for the Adventure Park, which includes gondola rides.
