First Fork is a 3.4-mile mountain biking trail located north of Durango, Colorado, classified as difficult. The route serves as a climb from the trailhead up to Missionary Ridge, with a total elevation gain of approximately 1,650 feet. Riders typically spend about one hour ascending, though descent times vary. The trail begins with steep, rocky sections before leveling out and following the creek bed for most of the distance. Water crossings are common in spring and summer, as the creek flows seasonally. The area sees significant horse and cow traffic, and hunting occurs in the fall. Access is via CR 240 and CR 246; drive north past Colvig Summer Camps onto USFS land to the gate at the dead end. The trailhead for First Fork is marked on the left. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are allowed. The trail is generally open from April through October.
