About
First Rites is a 5.7 trad or top-rope climb located on the Becker Wall of Palisade Mountain in the Big Thompson Canyon area. The route features an obvious wide crack on the right-center face leading to the top, with a vertical extent of approximately 40 feet. Climbers can use protection up to 4 inches or set up a top rope with long slings. The area is accessible year-round, with parking available at the Nancy's Rock lot on the north side of the canyon off US Highway 34. The rock is granite, and the south-facing aspect makes it suitable for winter and early spring climbing.
