About
Five O'Clock Shadow is a sport climbing area located near Glenwood Springs on the Western Slope of Colorado. The site features easy routes suitable for various skill levels, with an elevation of 7,737 feet. Climbers access a panel of gray rock that offers positive holds and good texture. The route includes an early crux requiring balance and specific hold selection. It is possible to climb the main line in a single pitch or combine it with adjacent routes like Graybeard and Bearded Outlaw. A belay ledge above the anchors for those neighboring routes allows climbers to step left onto the gray slab of Five O'Clock Shadow. The area is pet friendly and has parking available on site. Access requires a waiver submission to the property manager, Ken Headrick, via email. This administrative step maintains historical access rights but does not restrict entry times or require scheduling. The climbing area is accessible year-round, with activity occurring from January through December.
