The Forest Discovery Trail (also called Forest Discovery Nature Trail) is a 0.6-mile interpretive loop in Ridgway State Park, near Ridgway, Colorado. The trail sits at an elevation of roughly 7,000 to 7,354 feet and gains about 53 feet. It is rated easy, with a dirt surface suitable for families and casual hikers. The route winds through pinyon pine and Utah juniper forest on a hilltop overlooking Ridgway Reservoir. Views extend to the San Juan Mountains. Parking is available, and the trail is accessible year-round. It is closed to horses. Bring water and sturdy footwear, as the dirt can be muddy after rain.
