The Forest Discovery Trail is a 0.6-mile interpretive loop located within Ridgway State Park near Ridgway, Colorado. The trail sits at an elevation of approximately 7,000 to 8,200 feet with a gentle elevation gain of 53 feet. It features a dirt surface and winds through a forested hilltop of pinyon pines and Utah junipers, offering views of Ridgway Reservoir below. The route is rated easy, making it suitable for families and casual hikers. Parking is available near the trailhead, which is situated close to the Visitor Center. While the trail is accessible year-round, the optimal visiting window is April through October. Dogs are permitted but must remain on a leash. The trail is closed to horses.
