Free Range Chicken

Free Range Chicken is a trad climbing route located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, at an elevation of 5,898 feet. The route is classified as difficult and measures 60 feet (18 meters) in length. It is situated left of the Railroad Tracks Cracks and shares an anchor with that route. The climb begins on an arete protected by two bolts, which serve as the crux. Climbers mantle onto a narrow ledge above the second bolt, often using a long sling, and move right to a crack on the arete. After placing a #1 Camalot, the route ascends a ramp protected by a wide crack. The upper section features finger-sized protection on a face with pockets before finishing with the final moves of the Railroad Tracks Cracks. The route was first ascended by Mike Schneiter and Scott Nykerk. Parking is available on site, and pets are permitted. The area offers year-round climbing opportunities, though winter conditions may require additional preparation.
