The Fryingpan River is a Gold Medal tailwater known for its exceptional trophy trout fishing, particularly in the 14-mile section below Ruedi Reservoir. Famous for its prolific hatches and clear, cold, consistent flows, the Fryingpan supports a healthy population of large rainbow and brown trout, with fish over 20 inches not uncommon. Public access is available at multiple points along the river, with the section near Basalt being the most popular.
