About

Get Crazy With the Cheese Wiz is a 45-foot rock climbing route in the Land's End Area of Grand Mesa, near Grand Junction. The climb is rated 5.9 in the YDS system and offers both trad and sport options. It sits on the Paleosol Wall at an elevation of 9,800 feet. The route begins at a severe undercut where the paleosol layer has eroded away. Climbers pull up on large jugs to establish their position on the face. From there, they follow a thin crack upward through big holds. The path moves left and involves face climbing past two bolts. Protection is available on the right side of the wall, to the left of the route Babies Have Rabies. Parking is available at the site. The area is pet friendly. Grand Mesa receives significant snow cover from November through May, but avalanche danger remains low on most slopes away from Crag Crest and the rim. The route was first ascended by Garhart in spring 2013.
