About

Gold is a sport climbing area in Telluride, located near the Idarado Mine at an elevation of 9,557 feet. The site features a short, two-pitch route on an 18-degree overhanging wall. The first pitch is rated 5.6 and leads to a large ledge with an anchor using three bolts. The second pitch ascends the narrow, overhanging corner and is protected by eight bolts. First ascent was completed in 2018, with the route originally bolted by Bruce Eriksen and Patricio in 2015. The climb typically takes about five hours to complete. Parking is available, and the site allows pets. Access is open with restrictions because the land is private property owned by Idarado Mine, which maintains the access road. Climbers are asked to keep a low profile to ensure continued public use.
