Gold Digger is a rock climbing area located in the Silverton region of Colorado’s Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 5,544 feet, which is lower than many surrounding high-alpine crags that typically range from 9,000 to over 13,000 feet. The climbing difficulty is classified as easy, making it accessible for various skill levels. Routes are available year-round, with typical climbing conditions extending from January through December. A standard visit requires approximately 7 hours. The area offers on-site parking and permits pets. Silverton serves as the gateway to this section of the Million Dollar Highway, positioned 50 miles north of Durango and 20 miles south of Ouray. The climbing here features a mix of bolted and traditional lines, with routes reaching up to 500 feet in length. The rock type is generally granite. While the specific Gold Digger route traverses into a ledge, the broader Silverton area includes other notable crags such as Cunningham Gulch, Eureka Pillar, The Stripe, and Trainrobber Wall. Wildlife is abundant in the vicinity, often outnumbering climbers.
