About
The Gold Mountain Via Ferrata is a moderate hiking and climbing route located on a privately owned ranch in Ouray, Colorado. The facility opened in 2021 and became fully operational in 2022. The route features iron rungs, cables, and a 273-foot suspension bridge known as the Bridge of Heaven. It offers approximately 1,200 feet of elevation gain and typically takes between two to five hours to complete. The standard route is accessible year-round, though guided trips often operate from May through October. A difficulty context of beginner to advanced applies, with no prior climbing experience required for the main path. An optional hard route, added in 2024, includes a 'monkey bars' section and is considered the hardest via ferrata pitch in the country. The site allows pets, provides on-site parking, and permits gear rental. Hikers can explore old mine buildings along the way.
